Kathmandu, May 5: As the epidemic of corona infection spreads, hospitals have started testing the corona of every patient.
A child from Sindhupalchowk and his parents who came for treatment with a broken arm have also been tortured due to corona test.
A 6-year-old boy from Barhabise of Sindhupalchowk was brought to Maharajgunj-based Teaching Hospital last Saturday for treatment after breaking his arm.
However, Arun's father Bachchu Bhandari reached Jorpati after the teaching hospital referred him to Jorpati Orthopedic Hospital.
However, the hospital complained that instead of treating him, he took Rs 1,600 for RDT and Rs 700 for X-ray.
Despite the RDT being 'negative', the hospital sent him to KMC Hospital saying that it did not have the technology of vascular surgery.
The Ministry of Health has directed private and community hospitals to charge for RDT and PCR tests in addition to grants.
However, the head of the orthopedic hospital, Shyam Rupakheti, said that the fee was charged as the child was tested through the purchased RDT.
An organization called Sarathi Nepal Healthcare Equipment Development Foundation has treated the child after he ran out of money in the capital.
Compulsory corona testing of all patients and even some emergency patients has been shown to increase the risk of double cost, untimely treatment and death. It seems that the government should pay immediate attention to this.
