Decision of Surkhet Chamber of Commerce not to accept lockdown, recommendation of state government to open school

Public opinion against the lockdown has started in Karnali after the financial system and daily schedule have been disrupted.

Traders / businessmen have declared non-compliance since Wednesday, while the state government has also requested the federal government to open schools and yarcha collection.
The Surkhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry has decided not to accept the strike from Wednesday. The union said in a press release on Tuesday that the decision was taken because the private sector had collapsed due to the lockdown and the government had not taken any initiative to provide relief. A statement issued by the association's president Dhan Bahadur Rawat and general secretary Laxman Kandel states that the entire shop will be open from 10 am to 3 pm on May 6 (Wednesday). Fruit, vegetable, dairy and gas shops will be open from 5 to 9 in the morning and from 5 to 8 in the evening. "All shops will be closed on Saturday," the statement said.
Hiralal Regmi, who had a house in Surkhet only on Monday, has been transferred as the Chief District Officer. Such a decision made by a businessman / entrepreneur at the beginning of his tenure has embarrassed him. Administrative Officer at the District Administration Office, Padam Lal Lamichhane, said that discussions are underway to reverse the decision and implement the lockdown.
Yarsa collection and recommendation to open a school
On Sunday alone, the Karnali state government has recommended to the federal government to open schools and collect yarcha in the Himalayan districts where the risk of corona infection is low. The recommendation was made at a meeting of the State Disaster Management Center held on Sunday.
The meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has decided to request the Government of Nepal and KOVID-19 Disaster Management Center to run schools in Humla, Mugu, Jumla, Dolpa and Kalikot which are safe from infection.
The meeting has also requested to open the Yarcha collection from June 9 so that people from India will not be allowed to enter. For this, the government is ready to arrange quarantine for the citizens of Humla, Dolpa and Mugu coming from India in Surkhet.
The infection is on the rise
Despite the public outcry against the lockdown, the number of corona infections in Karnali has been increasing recently. According to the Ministry of Social Development, 262 people have been confirmed infected in Karnali till Monday. Twelve of them are from Karnali Far Western Province. They are in isolation in Surkhet. One person has died in Dailekh.
The victims are all from India except two Jumla policemen who are in quarantine. The number of people coming from India has not stopped. According to the Chief Minister's Office, only 20,901 people have returned from India from the beginning of May to Sunday. 27,347 people are still in quarantine.

Not only local life has been affected due to the lockdown, but also people from India and wage earners have been suffering a lot. A person from Surkhet Avching, who came from India on June 29, died due to untimely treatment.
Hari Khatri, a 22-year-old uncle of the deceased, said that he died on the way to the hospital as he did not get an ambulance for an hour and a half after reaching Subbakuna in Surkhet Valley. "People who knew him did not come because of the lockdown. He refused to come when he called two ambulances," he said.
