Rukum West: Three girls have died after being swept away in the Bheri River. The deceased have been identified as Yashodha Bhandari, 12, Ganga Kathayat, 11, and Vijaya Kathayat, 10, of Motipur in Thulivheri Municipality-9 of Dolpa.
District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police Narayan Ranjitkar said that three girls were killed when the Bheri River overflowed. According to him, the herdsmen who had gone to the bank of Bheri river in Motipur are believed to have entered the river when they were going to return the cows across the river. Yashodha and Vijaya were rescued from the Bheri River and rushed to the district hospital, where they were pronounced dead. DSP Ranjitkar said that Ganga was found dead 5 km below the place where the river flowed.
Police on patrol rushed to the spot after seeing Bheri carrying people. A team of police deployed at the wall of Thulivheri Municipality-9 from the airport security guard Jufal saw the girl fleeing. A team from District Police Office, Police Post Kalagonda and Police Post Tripurakot were deployed to rescue the girl.
