The Parliamentary Committee has directed to open a Dalit cell in the Nepal Police. A meeting of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee held on Tuesday directed the Home Ministry to open a Dalit cell within the Nepal Police.
Committee Chairman Krishna Bhakta Pokharel said that the committee has been instructed to open the cell to investigate the incidents of discrimination against the Dalit community.
Similarly, the committee has directed the government to expedite the search for the missing persons in the Rukum incident and provide free treatment to the injured. One person is missing in the incident. The committee has also asked the perpetrators to take legal action in a fair manner.
Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa, who was present in the committee, said that the investigation process of the Rukum incident has moved forward. He informed that the investigation committee is investigating. He said, 'Police arrived at the scene late. If any weakness is found, departmental action will be taken. Home Minister Thapa said that the investigation into the incident from the local, state and central levels has reached the final stage.
