The municipality of Phalewas in Parbat has decided to provide subsidy for cultivating barren land while the country is in limbo due to the spread of corona virus which has spread like a global epidemic. Chief of Phalewas Municipality Padampani Sharma informed that the subsidy has been announced to the farmers to increase production and avoid food crisis.

Mayor Sharma said that the policy of encouraging cultivation in barren land has been put forward saying that the corona virus infection could spread further and even lead to food crisis. The municipality has decided to provide subsidy to the farmers who cultivate food grains like maize, millet and paddy on the land which has been barren for more than two years, said Mayor Sharma.

"We need to plan for self-reliance," he said.
