
More than 7.5 million Nepalis have returned home from India so far after the outbreak of Corona Infection (Covid-19). As many as 753,219 Nepalis have returned home since March 9, 2076 amid fears of increased corona infection in India.
Of them, the number of returnees is 243,831 as soon as the lockdown was announced on March 26, 2010.
Before the announcement of the lockdown, the health desk was brought into operation at the border point on March 9, 2008. A total of 555,469 people were admitted in the 15 days after the health desk was set up.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, 24,721 from State 1, 56,102 from State 2, 7,306 from Gandaki, and 171,133 from State 5. And 116,065 people have entered from the far-western states. The house has stated that all those who entered through the checkpoint have reached permanent status. But neither their health was tested nor the government showed any sensitivity towards it. Due to which the infection has now spread across the country. After measuring the temperature, all those who entered through the checkpoint went home.
After the lockdown, 8,909 people had returned home from Province 1, 1,104 from Province 2, 72,609 from Province 5 and 97,654 from Southwestern Province. The government estimated that more than one million Nepalis would enter from India. The number is expected to rise further, a Home Ministry official said. But neither the government nor the quarantine management has the capacity to conduct health checks to support it.
Arrangement has been made to keep the entrants in the local level quarantine for 14 days after the lockdown. According to the latest statistics, there are 170,332 people in quarantine across the country. The number of people living in isolation has reached 3,260 after the infection was seen. Of those in quarantine, only those suspected and ill have been tested.
According to the Ministry of Health, more than 3,700 infections have been reported so far. So far, 14 people have died in Sindhupalchowk, Bake, Gulmi, Bara, Lalitpur, Arghakhachi, Dailekh, Bajura, Dolakha, Palpa, Surkhet, Kailali, Dolpa and Syangja. Of the 17 people who died in quarantine, nine were infected.
