Parbat: The bodies of five people buried in a landslide in Durlung of Kushma Municipality-3 on Saturday night have been found. The bodies of three were found on Saturday night and two on Sunday morning.
A team of security personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of the three. Although two people were found dead in a buried condition, there was a problem in getting them out.
The bodies of Tul Bahadur Thapa, his wife Nimkumari Thapa and granddaughter Bibisa Thapa were found on Saturday night. Tul Bahadur's grandchildren Vivek, Kripa and Sunil Thapa are still missing.
Similarly, rescue workers found the bodies of two others buried in the landslide on Sunday morning. Police said that they could not be identified. Deputy Superintendent of Police Bishwaraj Adhikari said that there was a problem in removing them. All were buried by the landslide while everyone in the family was asleep.
The search for four others who went missing in the landslide has been going on since Sunday morning. The rescue team returned from the district headquarters at 2 pm after the rain did not stop till late at night. Local Hom Bahadur Thapa Magar said that the rescue operation was being carried out with the help of an excavator from 6 am. According to him, locals and security personnel are searching for those buried in the landslide. The landslide occurred in a settlement near Kafalchaur Secondary School in Durlung after a torrential rain that lasted for about two hours. Chief District Officer of Parbat, Shambhu Prasad Regmi, said that there was a problem in the rescue operation as the rain did not stop overnight.
According to Ward Chairman Tej Prasad Padhya, who reached the spot, the house of local Bhuvan Giri has also been destroyed by the landslide. Locals including Nepal Police, Nepal Army and Armed Police Force are also involved in the rescue operation.
