The government has set up holding centers at nine places and corona dedicated quarantine at four places in the Kathmandu Valley to manage Nepalis brought from abroad. Nine party palaces in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur have been made holding centers.
Similarly, 4 public and private structures have been made corona dedicated quarantine to accommodate 1,700 people.
Four party palaces have been rented in Kathmandu, three in Lalitpur and two in Bhaktapur for the holding center. Those brought in from abroad will be taken to the holding center after immigration at the airport and general health examination from the health desk there. The security of the holding center and quarantine has been handed over to the Nepal Army. The army has also been given the responsibility of transport management to take the people from the holding center to the local level with permanent address. A joint meeting of the tenants of the three districts of the Valley was held on Wednesday for the management of the quarantine and holding center.
The government has set a schedule to bring Nepalis home by chartered flights from abroad from Friday. Necessary arrangements are being made to bring in 25,000 passengers from abroad at the rate of 2,500 daily, said a senior source at the Crisis Management Center (CCMC). People brought from abroad will be divided into provinces according to their permanent addresses and kept directly at the holding center from the airport and from there they will be sent to the local level quarantine through the vehicles provided by the army through the respective districts.
The Bhaktapur administration will make arrangements for the people of Provinces 1 and 2, the Kathmandu administration will make arrangements for the people of Bagmati, Gandaki and Province 5 and the Lalitpur administration will make arrangements for the people of Karnali and Far Western Provinces to be taken to the holding center and from there to the concerned local level.
Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Janak Raj Dahal, said that the government would take care of the hotel if the people from abroad want to stay in the hotel after paying the fee. The cabinet meeting held on June 28 and 29 passed the Order 2077 regarding the management of people brought from abroad including India and informed the concerned ministries and district administration offices to manage the infrastructure including quarantine accordingly. Accordingly, the quarantine and holding center has been prepared in coordination with the Ministry of Urban Development.
