Fear of 'discrimination' to the infected

Discrimination has brought about social complications by moving away from neighbors and stopping to speak when family members are infected. The infected are in isolation, the family is more worried about how the neighbors will treat them.

A media person from Toulihawa was in his office when he received the news of Kovid-19 infection from the Kapilvastu Municipal Office on May 25. "I wanted to tell the news to my family," he said. "I was worried that others would move too."
Reminding the family, he wanted to stay at home in self-isolation. The family wanted the same. "But since I started reporting, the neighbors have started talking," he said. "I didn't dare go home remembering that."
It has been 13 days since I lost sight of my family. After the PCR report confirmed, Corona said she would not come home and stay in the office. The family agreed. When he found out he was infected, his wife and four-year-old son were told to move elsewhere. The pressure continued for three days. He told his wife and son to stay indoors. Their report came back negative. "My wife also reminded me that a corona without symptoms is normal," he said. "Since then, people around the house have become more generous." However, he is feeling discriminated against. Residents around his isolated office are reluctant to speak from a distance. "They reduce the number of people walking through my office," he said.
After the first report of the test was negative, another youth from Kapilvastu, who was working at home, also had to endure social discrimination. He did not board an ambulance when he came to the isolation center at Butwal of Buddhabhumi-2. "Coming to the ambulance would spread panic in the society," he said. "Even though it was difficult for the family, I came on a motorcycle." According to him, the area where he lives is the market. It was always crowded. "I have become desolate after the news that I was infected," he said. "They have stopped bringing milk home." He said that there were more rumors about Corona and there was panic in the society. "It's better to stay at home in self-isolation if you don't have symptoms than to go looking for an isolation center," he said.

The infected girl from Banganga of Kapilvastu is now in the isolation of ANFA Academy in Butwal. She came to the isolation center from her work area after receiving the news that she was infected on June 25. The family could not stay at home. She did not dare to go. At the gate of his family home, a notice has been posted saying, "Don't come in contact with us, maintain social distance." Neighbors have been informed about the house. Relatives and family members are in self-quarantine. "We could have lived separately at home," she said. "But, society would talk, so we had to keep a distance." She said Corona felt the emotional distance widen.

The number of infected people is increasing daily in the state. Four Corona Hospitals are full here. There is pressure to build isolation centers at the local level as there is no environment to transport all the infected to the hospital. Most of the local levels have set up isolation wards in the existing quarantine rooms. Some are rushing to find vacant buildings in their area. The only purpose of such centers is to keep them infected rather than treat them. Physicians are urging the general public to create an environment in which the infected can be kept in self-isolation at home by raising awareness about the corona rather than increasing crowds in such isolated areas. Even if the family is ready for that, the society has started protesting saying that the infection will spread. There is no environment for the infected to get acquainted in their own village or toll. As a result, not all infected people have increased mental stress due to lack of management.

Though the state government operated a corona special hospital at Belzhundi in Tulsipur of Dang district, it was not infected in the district three years ago. Preparations were made to bring an 11-year-old infected girl from Bardiya to the hospital on April 12. As there is no special hospital for Corona in Bardiya and Banke is full, Dang was brought as an alternative. But there was public protest in the district, saying that it would be risky to bring it from outside as it was not infected. In the end, the girl was treated in Nepalgunj. Kaman Singh Dangi, chairman of Shantinagar village municipality of Dang, said in a press release that bringing infected people from outside is an insult to the people of Dang district. In response to the statement and the protests on social media, a meeting of the management committee of the Corona Special Hospital in Belzhundi decided that patients from all over the state could be treated.

Four hundred locals of Kothimai-6 of Rupandehi had protested on May 26 saying that a quarantine had been set up in the middle of the settlement.
They protested, saying the quarantine management was weak and the occupants had moved to the village. A year and a half ago, locals surrounded the ambulance while bringing the infected person from Narainapur in Banke to the isolation center in Nepalgunj. Relatives of the infected protested after the 'illusion' of not being safe in the isolation center was spread in the village. An atmosphere of terror prevailed after the locals evacuated 13 infected people from the quarantine on the night of May 25. In the infected tree overnight, Hidden in the drain. The next day, security personnel were mobilized and they were taken to Lions Dental Hospital in Nepalgunj. They were forced to live there in a huddle. As the number increased, a vacant government building was searched for a new isolation center. Attempts were made to make the training center of the Agriculture Development Bank at Pipari in Kohalpur an isolation center. Police protested after locals protested. Earlier, those from India were kept in quarantine. Only three days later, an attempt was made to keep the bank's training center infected. The hospital currently has 50 infected people from six districts of the state.
‘It’s natural to bring in patients when the end pressure increases,’ said hospital chief Dr. Sarvesh Sharma said. The locals have been angry since the hospital started keeping patients. ‘Everyone needs to have accurate information about Corona,’ says Dr. Sharma said, 'Treating does not move others. Everyone should help in this crisis. ' In Ghorahi-14, quarantine could not be formed for a long time due to the protest of the locals. Attempts were made to create quarantine in Kalpu Dharamsala, Balmandir, Shubh Prabhat Mavil and other places. The locals had taken to the streets carrying sticks saying that they were trying to keep quarantine in the middle of the settlement. Ghorahi sub-metropolitan chief Narulal Chaudhary says that social discrimination is increasing due to misunderstanding about Corona. "Not allowing quarantine and isolation to take place is to bring Corona into the house," he said.
When the Kohalpur Municipality tried to create a quarantine at the Bageshwori Multipurpose Campus, the locals protested. Kohalpur mayor Lut Bahadur Rawat was surrounded on the road. Police had barely released Rawat. Uma Thapa Magar, deputy chief of Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan municipality, said that protests and discrimination were taking place due to confusion among the people about Corona. "There is an illusion that isolation and quarantine can spread the infection," she said. "There is no need to be afraid if the quarantine is organized and the occupants are disciplined."
Different behavior
Neighbors look down on Gangaram Yadav of Kapilvastu's Yashodhara Gaonpalika-8, Banskhor. She complains that her son has been neglected because he is infected. Her son, who had returned from India, did not go straight home. As soon as Wari arrived, he went to the village quarantine and stayed there. A test 10 days later confirmed the infection. He said that the villagers started fleeing after seeing his son infected. "Even now, they pretend not to see," he said. "No one speaks." The son is sick. That tension is still there. He said that he felt humiliated by the behavior of the neighbors. "It's like being tortured when you need to be encouraged to be strong," he said.
Shyamananda of Maharajgunj Municipality-8, Kajarhawa is also facing difficulties. Her son is infected. He came home from Mumbai and went to Napasi Quarantine. Looked positive there. "Now my son Janaki is in isolation from Mavic," he said. "Neighbors treat him with contempt." He said that the villagers were behaving differently. "They are moving away from showing support and goodwill in times of trouble," he said. Now the families of the infected have become isolated. They run away from the other side. The victim who has been treated as untouchable has misery. "The concern about managing the infected is the same," said Yashodhara village chairman Girjesh Pandey. According to him, talks with the infected families have been stopped in the village. "There is discrimination," he said. "People with infections are in isolation." The family is stressed. '
Patients are mentally disturbed after being infected. On top of that, discrimination from family and society has increased the risk of depression. Sudarshan Thapa said. "The effects of social discrimination can be long-term," he said, adding that "those who have been confirmed infected should be placed in isolation centers at the local level to be cared for." He said that a safe living environment should be created in the house by spreading awareness about the misconceptions about corona in the society. He said that only those with symptoms and other long-term patients should be admitted to the hospital.
