Succeeded in laying 373 meters vertical pipe which is considered to be challenging

The 456 MW Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project under construction at Lama Bagar in Vigu Gaonpalika-1 of Dolakha has not been affected much by the outbreak of corona virus.
Outbreaks of the corona virus have so far had little effect on the Upper Tamakoshi project, which has already undergone technical testing of dams and headworks. There is work being done with high vigilance and caution to avoid the virus.
Meanwhile, the work of placing penstock pipe in the lower vertical shaft of 373 meters, which is considered very important and complex of the project, has been completed recently. The work of the lower vertical shaft was completed after the Austrian company Andrews dropped the last 1.5 meter penstock pipe into the vertical shaft at 4 am on Saturday. Ganesh Neupane informed. According to him, 73 five-meter pipes and one and a half meter penstock pipes have been connected to the lower vertical shaft. At the same time, the production date of Tamakoshi project is approaching.
Similarly, Railway Engineering of Indian company Texmaya has already installed 246 meters of penstock pipe in the upper vertical shaft of 310 meters while the remaining 64 meters of pipe connection will be completed in the first week of July. Neupane said.
The production date of the Tamakeshi project was repeatedly postponed due to the inability to speed up the installation of penstock pipes in these tunnels, which are considered to be the most difficult.
After about five months of efforts, the project was successful in connecting the first penstock pipe to the lower and upper vertical shafts on July 1, 2076 BS.
It has been connecting penstock pipes up to five meters in length and weighing up to 27 tons by placing them in a vertical shaft from a 35-ton capacity guarantee crane.
Spokesperson Neupane said that the main workers and technicians in the project are Chinese, Italian, Indian and Nepali nationals and they have been working on the project since before the corona problem.
Currently, more than 400 workers and employees are working in the project. Chinese company Sino Hydro has been working on civil, Austrian company Andrews has been working on electro-mechanical, Indian company Texmaco's Railway Engineering has been working on hydromechanical and another Indian company KEC has been working on substation and transmission line.
99.5 percent of the work has been completed in the project constructed with indigenous investment. Concrete lining work has been almost completed in the main tunnel of the project and chemical grouting work is underway in the required places of this tunnel.
Stating that the power house, transmission line and other works of the project have been completed in the framework of Picking Run of River. Spokesperson Dr. Neupane said that all the pipes will be connected by the end of July and pressure test will be started on the pipes.
The main civil construction work has been started from 17th September, 2067 BS. There is an estimate.
